You’ve probably heard of a miracle yellow powder from a plant called Turmeric. This relative of ginger is rich in curcumin, a chemical compound traditionally used in Asian Medicine for centuries as a powerful antioxidant and a digestive cleanse. Very often, turmeric is mentioned as a natural remedy for joint pain in the form of a curcumin supplement.
A review of over 30 studies revealed an interesting finding: curcumin supplementation can help tackle several markers of inflammation, including joint inflammation. It also helps with some other inflammation markers, such as the C-reactive protein found in the liver (measured by CRP tests), interleukin-6 - a type of cytokine, a signaling molecule produced by immune system cells, and even some tumor markers.

According to some studies, patients with osteoarthritis experienced significant improvement in their symptoms compared to the control groups after three months of Curcumin-based treatment.
The treatment groups also had reduced costs associated with anti-inflammatory treatment.
These findings suggest that using Curcumin for joint health in managing and treating osteoarthritis may be clinically effective, and further research is needed to explore its potential benefits.
